This test include: PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen)
PSA is the main screening test for cancer of prostate. This test is also indicated for monitoring the course of prostate cancer and patient response to treatment and is useful in monitoring for disease recurrence. Elevated levels of PSA need to be followed up with a urologist. Prostate cancer may occur at any age, but it is more often found in men over 50. By age 50, one third of American men have microscopic signs of prostate cancer, and by age 75, half to three quarters of men’s prostates will have cancerous changes. Most of the time prostate cancer does not initially cause any symptoms. By the time symptoms occur, the disease may spread beyond the prostate.
